Frictional Matching: Evidence from Law School Admission
نویسندگان
چکیده
We measure friction in the matching of students and law schools as the number of unnecessary student applications and school admissions that have to be undertaken per actual matriculation. We show that friction increases with student and school attractiveness, but decreases for top schools and students. We discuss connections with the literature on frictional matching. JEL: D02, C78.

To facilitate the damping matching of dampers for vehicle passive suspensions, this paper proposes an analytical matching method of the optimal piecewise linear damping characteristics curve. Based on the vehicle vibration model, taking the suspension dynamic deflection as the constraint, by the vibration acceleration and the wheel dynamic load, an objective function about the relative damping ...
متن کاملON THE MATCHING NUMBER OF AN UNCERTAIN GRAPH
Uncertain graphs are employed to describe graph models with indeterministicinformation that produced by human beings. This paper aims to study themaximum matching problem in uncertain graphs. The number of edges of a maximum matching in a graph is called matching numberof the graph. Due to the existence of uncertain edges, the matching number of an uncertain graph is essentially an uncertain var...
متن کاملWhat Predicts Law Student Success? A Longitudinal Study Correlating Law Student Applicant Data and Law School Outcomes
Despite the rise of “big data” empiricism, law school admission remains heavily impressionistic; admission decisions rely on anecdotes about recent students, idiosyncratic preferences for certain majors or jobs, or mainly the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). Yet no predictors are well-validated and studies of the LSAT or other factors fail to control for other factors. The lack of evidence for...

In 1997, the Texas legislature passed H.B. 588, commonly termed the Top Ten Percent Law, which...
